Jennifer Lopez showed off her fun side once again during the season finale of American Idol. The singer took to the stage, not as a judge but as a performer, to introduce fans to her latest single “Live It Up.” And, yes, her partner in crime Pitbull was there in his usual suit to help turn things up a little. It’s not her best performance, or song, but it’s still JLo so she looks fabulous as usual! Continue reading
One of the perks of being a judge on a single reality show is guaranteed promo and a performance slot to perform new and old material. Mariah Carey took advantage of this perk when she took the stage for nearly five minutes during Season 12′s finale to perform a medley of her hits, including “My All” and “We Belong Together,” before ending with her latest single “Beautiful.” It didn’t look like her vocals were live, but she looked amazing regardless. One of the perks of winning American Idol is guaranteed promo and performance time on the show if your music is doing well. Phillip Phillips returned to where it all began last night when he performed he latest single “Gone Gone Gone” during American Idol’s results show. I’m so very obsessed with this song.
After the performance Idol judge Randy Jackson presented Phillips with a plaque in celebration of his single “Home” going quadruple platinum.
The World from the Other Side of the Moon is in stores now.

Phillip Phillips’ debut album will reportedly do good numbers in it’s first week, but Haley Reinhart, another American Idol alum, isn’t having as good of a week. The singer released her debut album Listen Up earlier this year and in six months has only sold 59,000 copies. Billboard is reporting that Reinhart has since been dropped from the Universal Music Group label.
Reinhart isn’t the only American Idol star who was dropped from their label this year, as Kris Allen suffered a similar fate just months ago.
*sigh* Maybe this further proves our point. Reality singing competitions aren’t focused on making stars anymore. They’re much more concerned with making their already famous judges look better than ever.

Yesterday, it blew up all over the web that the feud between new American Idol judges Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey was VERY real, despite protests saying the opposite. Today, host Ryan Seacrest gives his two cents, saying ” It did go too far, to the point where the producers said with just a few more contestants left, ‘Let’s call it a day.’ …And when you look at what the producers and Fox put together for this season, both of them, all of them, the four of them are essential components to what makes up the entire sum of the panel and provides that different perspective and that interesting point of view.” AKA: Publicity and viewers!
Ryan also mentioned the industry status of the two pop stars. Read that quote and Mr. Mariah Carey’s statement after the jump:
Just hours ago Ryan Seacrest tweeted the above picture and confirmed that this season’s American Idol judges are Mariah Carey, Randy Jackson, Nicki Minaj and Keith Urban. Check out the official seating arrangement for the judges below! Continue reading

During a taping for tomorrow’s episode of her talk show “Katie”, Katie Couric revealed to guest Jennifer Lopez that country music superstar Keith Urban will be the fourth judge on American Idol. Continue reading
A few weeks ago we revealed that Randy Jackson would leave the judging table on American Idol for a mentoring position. Now reports that Randy will still remain at the table have surfaced. As of now Mariah Carey is the only guaranteed judge, as Nicki Minaj has remained hush on the deal so far.
I’m sure they’re still working all of the kinks out, but I wouldn’t mind watching Randy judge for another year. What do you think?!
Randy Jackson will no longer be a judge on American Idol but he will still remain on the show as a mentor to contestants. His replacement Nicki Minaj’s position, is almost a done deal. The show will continue with the four judge format but the fourth judge has yet to be found. Diddy and Kanye West were both wanted by producers, but that won’t be happening. Mariah Carey is also a judge.

Last month, Mariah Carey revealed that she’d be replacing J. Lo on American Idol. Today UsWeekly reported that Nicki Minaj will be on board in place of Steven Tyler.
Nicki recently cancelled some shows due to a bruised vocal chords, but we’re sure she’ll be in better shape for critiquing Idol hopefuls.
Looks like this will be an interesting season of Idol…
