The BET Award, which airs next Sunday (June 30), will have quite a few performances, despite a lack of promotion. Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj and Ciara joined the list of performers this week, which already included Kendrick Lamar, Miguel & Chris Brown. No word yet on if Carey and Miguel will perform together, but Ciara will release the music video for her latest single “I’m Out” before her performance at the awards show’s pre-show, according to Rap-up. Comedian Chris Tucker will serve as this year’s host.
Last night BET’s Rip The Runway aired and Sevyn Streeter appeared to perform one of my favorite songs right now! Dancing around the stage and flirting with the models, Streeter performed the flirty “I Like It.” I saw Streeter performed when she was in Rich Girl and they opened for Beyonce a few years ago, so I’m excited to see what she else she has up her sleeve as a solo artist!

Brandy brought her sultry tone and melodic riffs to the BET Honors for a performance of her new single “Without You.” I posted rehearsal footage from the show a few days ago, but the full performance is pretty dope!
Though the BET Honors was filmed weeks ago, it premiered on Brandy’s birthday and the anniversary of her friend/mentor Whitney Houston’s death. Brandy’s album, Two Eleven is named after these events and is in stores now. Continue reading

What do you think about the lineups?
Elle Varner performed her hit single “Refill” on the Soul Train Awards recently and she had one of the best performances! The newcomer looked and sounded AMAZING as she performed with the help of a beat boxer.

Miguel hit the stage at the Soul Train Awards this year to perform his soulful single “Adorn.” I’m not sure if something was wrong with the mics during this show because he, like most of the other performers, didn’t sound his best.
“Adorn” is the first single from Kaleidoscope Dream which is out now. Continue reading
Everyone that sent in demo reels and had all their friends tweet @BET to pick them as the new host of 106 & Park are probably upset right now.
Global Grind is reporting that 106 & Park will air it’s last episode this Friday. It’s not that much of a shocker since Terrance J and Rocsi announced they were leaving the show months ago.
I can’t lie, I haven’t watched 106 & Park in a LONG time, but I’m still kind of sad to see it go.
Will you miss 106 & Park?
Update: 106 & Park says they aren’t going anywhere!!
Just because Kanye hasn’t released a solo album in 2 years, doesn’t mean he’s not a huge influence in Hip-Hop. The nominations for the BET Hip-Hop Awards nominations were recently released and Kanye leads the pack with 17 nominations, followed by 2 Chainz who scored 13.
The annual show will air on October 9 and be hosted by Mike Epps.
Check out the full list of nominations here and let me know what you think about the nominees.

BET has ordered What Would Dylan Do, a pilot starring Kelly Rowland. The working title centers around Dylan, a relationship blogger who lives with her best friend and rich, divorced roommate. Kelly stars in the lead role as Dylan. The show is produced by Warren Hutcherson, who also produced The Bernie Mac Show. In the past, Kelly has had acting stints on The Game, and Girlfriends.
I think Kelly will be a great fit as a lead in a comedy. Looks like music will be taking a backseat for a while…

Last night’s BET Awards can be summed up in two sentences. The Carters and Kimye stole the spotlight last night as they sat front row together and sang along to every performance. The Throne and Beyonce also took home a few awards, as did Chris Brown.
Seriously, though it actually was better than I expected. See who won “Video of the Year,” “Best Group,” “Best Female Hip-Hop Artist,” and more below!!! Continue reading
