The Billboard Music Awards was packed with performances – mostly lackluster performances – but there were a few highlights. For one, Miguel almost certainly caught a law suit when he jumped over the crowd and landed on a woman’s head.

Actually, most of the highlights were controversial and had nothing to do with the actual performances…

Check out my summary and video of each performance below. Continue reading

Bruno Mars scored his fifth number one single this week when his latest single “When I Was Your Man” went to number one on the Billboard Hot 100.

“When I Was Your Man” is the second song featuring only a piano and vocals to hit number one. Mars scored his first number one on the chart in 2010 thanks to his insanely catchy hook on B.O.B’s “Nothing On You.” Since then his solo singles “Just The Way You Are,” “Grenade” and “Locked Out of Heaven” have also snagged the top spot.

Bruno Mars’ sophomore album Unorthodox Jukebox is in stores now!

Earlier this year Billboard announced that Prince will perform at this year’s Billboard Music Awards, after receiving the Billboard Icon Award, which is really all I needed to be interested. Really. But, today comes news that the newest pop princess and princes will also grace the stage at this year’s shows.

Taylor Swift, Bruno Mars, Miguel and Justin Bieber will all perform when the show airs live on May 19 at 9 p.m. ET on ABC.

Don’t try to contain your excitement. Just let it out.

Bruno Mars has been promoting his sophomore album, Unorthodox Jukebox for months now and all of that hard work has finally payed off. The singer scored his first number one album this week when Jukebox landed at number one of the Billboard 200 chart. Amazon offered the album for $1.99 on Feb. 26, then priced the it at $3.49 for the remainder of the week. The retailer sold 95,000 copies of the album that week, which definitely helped Mars land the top spot!

Congrats!

Last week Bruno Mars revealed plans to go on a massive world tour and it was rumored that Ellie Goulding and Fitz & the Tantrums would be joining him as opening acts.

Today, the soulful crooner released the massive list of tour dates. The North American portion of “The Moonshine World Tour” will kick off on June 22 in D.C and end on September 1 in Puerto Rico (fitting since Mars is part Puerto Rican). Ellie Goulding and Fitz & the Tantrums will alternate as opening acts during these dates. The Europe portion of the tour kicks off one month later on Oct. 2 in Belfast and ends on Nov. 9 in Budapest.

I’m tired from just thinking about all of the traveling! Bruno always seems to have fun when performing so I’m sure this tour will be a blast!

Tickets go on sale March 1! Check out the lengthy list of tour dates here!

The Grammys aired just over a week ago, but artists are still seeing the positive effects of music’s biggest night!

Grammy award winners Taylor Swift and fun. are set to return to the top 10 of the Billboard 200 chart this week. Bruno Mars, Taylor Swift, fun. and The Lumineers are also predicted to sell over 50,000 copies of their latest album’s, whereas Album of the Year winners Mumford & Sons are expected to sell around 150,000 copies of Babel.

Other albums that are likely to see spikes in sells this week are Rihanna’s Unapologetic, and The Black Keys’ El Camino.

Have you bought any new music following the Grammys?!

Rihanna took the stage with Mikky Ekko at the Grammys for an emotional performance of her latest single “Stay.” It was just as lovely as her SNL performance of the song, but I was most impressed when she took the stage to pay tribute to Bob Marley.

Following an awesome performance from Bruno Mars and Sting – the two performed Mars’ “Locked Out Of Heaven” and The Police’s “Walking On The Moon – Rihanna joined the guys on stage with Ziggy & Damien Marley, Bob Marley’s sons, for an energetic performance of “Could You Be Loved.”

It was a short tribute, but it was so very sweet! Definitely one of my favorite performances from the night! Continue reading

Bruno Mars is ready to move on from no. 1 single “Locked Out Of Heaven.”

Today the soulful crooner released the music video for the heartbreaking tune “When I Was Your Man.” The purposely grainy clip is shot on a television set and evokes a nostalgia for the earlier days of television. It’s interesting that Mars chose to take the performance route, instead of filming a video with a heavy storyline, but I’m sure fans will enjoy it just the same.

It was recently announced that Bruno Mars will hit the Grammy stag for a special performance with Rihanna and Sting on Feb. 10.

Maybe the trio will perform Rihanna’s single “Stay!!”
