Rumor has it Gwen Stefani may replace Christina Aguilera as a judge on reality singing competition The Voice. It’s understandable. Aguilera has quite a bit going on this year.

The newly engaged and pregnant singer tweeted about the new beginnings in her personal live and new music over the weekend.

“So blissful in taking this time for creating all things blossoming new on the horizon…album, baby & beautiful music to come,” she tweeted.

No word on when the music will be ready or what her plans for an album are, but at least we know she’s creating.

I’ll wait as long as I have to if that means we get a solid project and proper promotion.

Timeflies’ singer Cal Shapiro and producer Rob “Rez” Resnick recently put their spin on A Great Big World’s emo Christina Aguilera-assisted ballad “Say Something.” Resnick’s does away with the string section, giving the song a new sparse, moody production. Unfortunately, Shapiro’s vocals lack the passion that Ian Axel and Aguilera display in the radio version. Still, the cover is definitely worth a listen or two.

R. Kelly, you have officially be replaced!

Lady Gaga landed in the top five of my favorite 15 singles of the year with “Do What U Want,” but the single probably would have been even higher if this version had been released before now! Following their fiery performance on The Voice finale, Gaga has decided to officially release a version of “Do What U Want” with Christina Aguilera. The ladies even recorded some new studio vocals for the song!

I am so happy these ladies could unite in such a public manner! If this doesn’t send you into 2014 with a smile on your face, I don’t know what will.

Listen to the new release here and tell me what you think!

Lady Gaga and Christina Aguilera perform on The Voice

Lady Gaga and Christina Aguilera came together for an amazing performance of Gaga’s “Do What U Want” on The Voice season finale last night. According to Gaga, she immediately thought of the idea after being asked to perform. The pop stars sounded amazing and showed solidarity amidst those shady rumors of Bionic sabotage. It is always nice to see women coming together and rising above the drama!

Additionally, Paramore performed their latest single “Ain’t It Fun” with contestant Jacquie Lee, Celine Dion performed her new single “Incredible” with Ne-Yo and OneRepublic hit the stage by themselves for a performance of “I Lived.”

Christina Aguilera went Back To Basics and performed her old single “Candyman” on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno last night for the show’s Thanksgiving episode. Aguilera stuck with the sailor theme while singing the provocative song on the late night show. It wasn’t her best vocally, but she looked amazing in her racy costume!

Miley Cyrus Performs “Wrecking Ball” at AMAs

This year’s American Music Awards promised performances from several top mainstream artists. The show lasted about three hours and, despite several controversial performers, there wasn’t really a big disastrous moment for people to latch on to and write/read think pieces about for the next few weeks. For the most part, everyone behaved and gave solid, albeit forgettable, performances. Aside from Rihanna receiving the first-ever Icon Award, my favorite moments had to be when Jennifer Lopez paid tribute to Celia Cruz, Ariana Grande performed “Tattooed Heart,” Justin Timberlake performed “Drink You Away” and Lady Gaga played Marilyn Monroe alongside President Robert Kelly in their performance of “Do What U Want”

Christina Aguilera and Ian Axel of A Great Big World in "Say Something" video

Christina Aguilera and Ian Axel of A Great Big World in “Say Something” video

Christina Aguilera is known for bringing the drama to songs with her powerful vocals, but she can be just as powerful when she is soft and demure. The popular singer joins A Great Big World on a version of their stunning piano-ballad “Say Something.” The video for the song finds the duo and Aguilera singing in front of a piano as tragic scenes play out behind them. A girl seemingly mourns the end of a relationship, a scared child hides under her bed and an elderly man loses his wife in the clip as strings swell around Ian Axel and Aguilera’s fragile vocals.

It is powerful.

A Great Big World performed “Say Something” on The Voice with Aguilera earlier this month. They will perform the song together again at the American Music Awards (AMAs) on Nov. 24.

I can’t say this enough. I was wrong about Sia’s “Elastic Heart.” That song just may be one of my favorite pop songs of 2013. That isn’t the only good song to come from The Hunger Games: Catching Fire Soundtrack, though. Christina Aguilera, The Lumineers, Sia, Lorde, Ellie Goulding and more recorded music for the soundtrack and, for the most part, they all delivered!

So whether you’re fighting off heartbreak (“Elastic Heart”), trying to feel empowered (“We Remain”) or just surrendering completely to your feelings (“Gale Song”), there is something for everyone on this soundtrack.

Coldplay’s “Atlas” wasn’t quite what I was hoping for, but the latest offering from The Hunger Games: Catching Fire Soundtrack, a pop ballad from Christina Aguilera, may make up for it. A 90-second snippet of “We Remain” landed online this morning and it certainly does sound promising.

More importantly, the soundtrack for the highly-anticipated sequel will also feature music from Sia, Ellie Goulding, Of Monster and Men, The Lumineers, Lorde and more.
