Pentatonix has mashed up the two songs that put Sam Smith on the map before the release of his debut album In The Lonely Hour. The a capella group is known for doing fun covers of popular songs and their latest work is definitely no different.
Teaming up with British producers Disclosure and Naughty Boy, Smith was able to generate some buzz with “Latch” and “La La La” before he released any solo work.
In addition to this new cover, Pentatonix also released a cover of Ariana Grande’s “Problem” recently.
Both covers will be featured on their EP PTX, Vol. III when it is released on September 23. Continue reading
“Latch” is the electronic hit that just won’t quit.
Although the Disclosure single was released over a year ago, it’s still gaining popularity in the U.S. and the boys are still doing promotional performances. The Disclosure brothers and Sam Smith stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live to perform the hit single last night.
It’s definitely a treat to watch the duo work their magic and hear Smith belt out that infectious hook, but I can’t be the only fan ready to move on from this single.
“Latch” is currently at no. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100, while Smith’s “Stay With Me” is currently sitting pretty at no. 3. The British crooner’s latest single “I’m Not the Only One” debuted at no. 69 on the chart this week following the release of the song’s emotional music video. Continue reading
Disclosure is at it again! The brothers dropped off another fiery remix earlier this week just in time for you to add it to your holiday weekend playlists.
Usher’s funky cut “Good Kisser” gets sped up on top of a four on the floor beat and bouncing synths in this new version.
It’s another solid remix for the unstoppable duo. Bang, bang, bang. Continue reading
Can you believe Pharrell’s “Frontin” is 11 years old as of this week?!
Disclosure has reworked Pharrell’s debut solo single and say they may let fans download it for free when they reach 1 million likes on Facebook. With the help of a few synths, the duo is able to infuse the style associated with their debut album Settle into the popular throwback track, which they say is one of their favorite songs EVER.
Let this be your excuse to dance around your room for a little while before you get your day started! Continue reading
English singer Alexa Goddard is known for covering popular songs on YouTube and this week she took on Disclosure’s “Help Me Lose My Mind.” The electronic track was originally sung by London Grammar, but in Goddard’s version the main instruments are an acoustic guitar and piano. Her voice is both delicate and strong during the cover, providing a great balance and giving weight to the song’s beautiful lyrics.
Best listened to while: daydreaming.

Elton John, Kanye West and Jack White will headline Bonnaroo this year. Lionel Richie, Phoenix, Frank Ocean, Disclosure, Zedd, Lauryn Hill, Janelle Monae, Sam Smith and Banks were also among the list of artists announced as performers during the festival’s 30-minute Bonnaroo Line-Up Announcement Megathon webcast. Additional performers will be announced in the future. Outkast didn’t make the lineup.
Bonnaroo will take place in Manchester, TN on June 12-15. Tickets go on sale Saturday, Feb. 22 at noon.
The 2014 BRIT Awards were pretty uneventful, but talk abut the show was pretty funny. There were the typical tweets of boredom, the person who thought the BRIT awards were in some way related to Britney Spears and PopDust‘s hilarious live blog about deciding whether or not they should live blog this year’s show.
It’s true, the chatter was much more entertaining than this year’s talent. Even performances from heavyweights Beyonce, Bruno Mars, Katy Perry, Bruno Mars, Pharrell, Disclosure, Lorde and more couldn’t save the broadcast. Yonce sang “XO” for the first time on television, delivering a pretty sweet, albeit uneventful performance, while Perry continued to ignore the cultural appropriation critiques AND the fact that “Dark Horse” NEEDS a twerk breakdown to reach it’s full potential live. Lorde and Disclosure’s mashup of “Royals” and “White Nose” with Aluna Francis was pretty entertaining, though.
The awards show fatigue has finally kicked in. I’m just ready to get a break from these things. Are you?
Update: I’ve also included this year’s winners in this post! Continue reading
Sometimes good things happen for no reason.
After performing together in New York a few days ago, Disclosure and Mary J. Blige have officially teamed up for a new studio version of “F For You.” The original version of the song was featured on Disclosure’s debut album Settle. I didn’t think I could like this song any more than I already did, but this new version, with all verses from Blige about playing the fool for a lover, is pretty amazing.
They even released a new video for the song!
Listen to the new version of “F For You” and see the live performance below! Continue reading
I never want to get over “Latch,” so it’s a good thing Disclosure and Sam Smith don’t want to either.
The threesome made their U.S. television debut last night on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, performing a rendition of the popular single. I was hoping Nile Rodgers would appear out of nowhere so they could play “Together,” but I guess I can’t get everything I want.
“Latch” is featured on Disclosure’s 2012 release Settle.
Smith is planning to release his solo debut album In The Lonely Hour later this year. Continue reading
