The Billboard Music Awards was packed with performances – mostly lackluster performances – but there were a few highlights. For one, Miguel almost certainly caught a law suit when he jumped over the crowd and landed on a woman’s head.

Actually, most of the highlights were controversial and had nothing to do with the actual performances…

Check out my summary and video of each performance below. Continue reading

Jennifer Lopez in "Live It Up" video

Jennifer Lopez in “Live It Up” video

Jennifer Lopez performed her latest single “Live It Up” with Pitbull last night on American Idol and fans were able to get a sneak peek of the video in the new Kohls commercial, but today the full video was released. JLO and Pitbull party it up on the beach with friends and Lopez struts herself on stage before swinging through the air just like her dancers during the Idol performance. It’s generic, like the song, but I’m sure it’ll be played everywhere until we all jump on the bandwagon.

JLo will reportedly sing “Live It Up” this Sunday at the Billboard Music Awards at 8 p.m. EST. Continue reading

Jennifer Lopez performs on American Idol

Jennifer Lopez showed off her fun side once again during the season finale of American Idol. The singer took to the stage, not as a judge but as a performer, to introduce fans to her latest single “Live It Up.” And, yes, her partner in crime Pitbull was there in his usual suit to help turn things up a little. It’s not her best performance, or song, but it’s still JLo so she looks fabulous as usual! Continue reading

“You name it she’s done it. She’s the reason women run it.” – Pitbull on Jennifer Lopez

I read a comment on twitter that said Pitbull is Jenifer Lopez’s new Ja Rule. While I prefer the previous duo, it’s clear JLo has enjoyed collaborating with Pitbull as she just released her third single featuring the rapper. “Live It Up” isn’t much different from their previous work together (“On The Floor” and “Dance Again“) in that it’s another generic club song with a booming beat and sweeping synths, so I suspect it will be just as big of a hit. Nicki Minaj in “Freedom”

Nicki Minaj in “Freedom”

Nicki Minaj and Jennifer Lopez may not ever get a chance to chat it up at the judging table on American Idol, but the women will both hit the stage to perform at the Billboard Music Awards. Minaj and JLo are the latest to be added to the show’s lineup, along with Ed Sheeran, David Guetta and Chris Brown. Billboard Icon recipient Prince, Taylor Swift, Bruno Mars, Miguel, Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez and Christina Aguilera are also set to hit the stage on May 19 when the show airs live on ABC.

Taylor Swift, fun. and Maroon 5 lead the nomination pack with 11 nominations each.

Get excited! Because J.Lo is coming back with new music this year! And the best part is…she’ll be going back to her roots! The singer confirmed via Twitter that she is working on a new record. The singer is set to team up again with RedOne, the man responsible for her hit “On the Floor”. Continue reading

Who says the young stars get to have all the fun?!

Following in the footsteps of younger stars like Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, and Justin Bieber, Extra has revealed that JLo is planning to release a 3D concert film. The film will not only feature footage of JLo performing, but it will also focus on her life over the last few years.

The concert film will, of course, be called Dance Again.

Are you interested in seeing JLo in theaters?

Last night on MTV First, Jennifer Lopez sat down with Sway to premiere the full-length video for “Goin In”. Jennifer had wanted to do a soundtrack and decided to do the song for Step Up: Revolution because of the dance theme. The video doesn’t hold back on the moves and Jennifer keeps up with the girls dancing behind her as if she was 20 years younger. Besides the dancing, the video is filled with plenty of style and brilliant splashes of color.

Yesterday it was officially announced that Mariah Carey would be taking a chair as a judge on American Idol.  As the obvious replacement for J. Lo (although Fox president Kevin Reilly says there is no “replacement”), E! News asked the “Goin’ In” singer  if she thought Mother Lamb would be a good fit:

“I think so, yeah! Why not? She’s a musician for a long time she has a lot of experience. And it’s that experience you offer them at the end of the day, the contestants just want to get better and grow through the process.”

Read what advice she had for Mariah below:

Although she said she wanted to focus on acting upon  leaving American Idol. J. Lo is still making time for music and performing. A preview has been released for the “Goin’ In” music video, the second single from her upcoming greatest hits album, Dance Again… The Hits. She also has some assistance from Lil Jon and Flo Rida in the clip.
