Jess Glynne has been dealing with one of those men that takes and never gives and then one day just disappears into thin air. And she’s pretty upset about it.
“You stole my happiness from up under my nose,” Glynne sings bitterly during the song.
The raspy texture and weight of her voice matches the heavy lyrics. The song shows that Glynne can be versatile in lyrical content without straying to far away from the harmonious melodies and electronic sound she’s become known for.
The video shows Glynne wondering around town and performing. The concept is simple, but where Carly Rae Jepsen’s recent attempt at this fell short, Glynne’s succeeds thanks to moody lighting and editing.
Glynne’s album I Cry When I Laugh is scheduled to be released later this year. Continue reading
Jess Glynne has had great success teaming up with acts like Clean Bandit. Songs such as “Real Love” and “Rather Be” have been major hits, but now she’s proving she’s just as capable of making a solid pop single all on her own.
“Hold My Hand” features a light and bouncy refrain and uplifting lyrics on top of horns riffs and a piano melody.
The song doesn’t have the instant grab of songs like “Rather Be,” but it’s a great offering that should get people excited for the singer’s future releases. Continue reading
There are few songs that currently make me happier than Clean Bandit and Jess Glynne’s “Rather Be” and “Real Love.” While “Rather Be” is nearly a year old, it is still doing well in the U.S. (it’s no. 12 on the Billboard Hot 11 right now). Meanwhile, “Real Love” has only been out for a few weeks, but I suspect it will be pretty big, too.
The UK collaborators have just released the music video for “Real Love” and the visuals are as infectious as the song’s production.
The video shows Clean Bandit and Glynne in the studio recording the single and performing on stage, in between shots of couples locking lips.
This is real love, people. And real love involves a lot of making out in public places.
