Jimmy Kimmel Live
The week before a new Taylor’s Swift album drops is a lot like the week before Christmas. It doesn’t feel like something major is right around the corner, but eventually you start receiving gifts and hints of what’s to come and by the time the actual day comes around you’re pretty much bursting with excitement.
1989, Swift’s fifth studio album will be released on Monday, Oct. 27, and, according to critics it’s pretty amazing. So far fans have only heard three songs from the singer’s first official pop album, two of which she performed last night on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
Wearing a black outfit that I may or may not have text my friends to obsess over and her signature red lip, Swift performed her hit single “Shake It Off” and “Out of the Woods,” a song that my or may not be about Harry Styles and his airplane necklace.
The performances weren’t anything spectacular, but it’s a warning that something new is looming right around the corner. Continue reading
“Latch” is the electronic hit that just won’t quit.
Although the Disclosure single was released over a year ago, it’s still gaining popularity in the U.S. and the boys are still doing promotional performances. The Disclosure brothers and Sam Smith stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live to perform the hit single last night.
It’s definitely a treat to watch the duo work their magic and hear Smith belt out that infectious hook, but I can’t be the only fan ready to move on from this single.
“Latch” is currently at no. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100, while Smith’s “Stay With Me” is currently sitting pretty at no. 3. The British crooner’s latest single “I’m Not the Only One” debuted at no. 69 on the chart this week following the release of the song’s emotional music video. Continue reading
Sia continues to prove you can deliver entertaining performances without showing your face. The singer appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live and with the help of Maddie Ziegler and a few other dancers she was able to bring three songs from her forthcoming album 1000 Forms of Fear to life.
The singer performed “Chandelier,” “Big Girls Cry” and “Elastic Heart” during the set. For the performances she stood in opposite corners of the stage and even sat in a chair in the middle of the stage, each time with her back turned away from the audience as she delivered chilling vocals.
The colorful set and costumes, and, often delirious, dancing only accented the singer’s vocal performance.
“Chandelier” is still one of the best songs and videos of 2014 so if you’ve been living under a rock and still haven’t seen the viral video you HAVE to check it out.
If you, like Iggy Azalea, stay up all night trying to get that “rich,” you may have caught her performances on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night.
The “Fancy” rapper stopped by the late night show to promote her long-awaited debut album, which was released last month.
Azalea performed 2013’s “Work” and brought out Charli XCX for a fun performance of her hit “Fancy.”
The ladies left the Clueless references out this time, but watching them go through their simple choreography was still entertaining.
Azalea is currently finishing up her tour in support of the new album. Continue reading
Justin Timberlake shut down Hollywood Boulevard last night for Jimmy Kimmel Live. Timberlake performed “Take Back The Night” and “TKO,” both singles from The 20/20 Experience (2 of 2) during the late night performance.
Timberlake’s The 20/20 Experience (2 of 2) will be released on Sept. 30, but fans can stream the album on iTunes until it’s release. Continue reading
Big Sean stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live to perform music from his forthcoming album Hall of Fame. The rapper was joined on stage by Jhene Aiko for a performance of his single “Beware,” sans rapper Lil Wayne. Fans tossed beach balls around the crowd as the artists performed the bitter track. Following that performance, Big Sean performed the catchy album cut “Fire.”
Hall of Fame will be released August 27. Continue reading
Pop duo Karmin stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live last night to perform their latest single “Acapella,” the lead single from their forthcoming full-length debut album. The duo were up to their usual antics during the Kimmel set, but it was the debut of their new song “Try My On” that got my attention. The song has a carefree surfer vibe and breezy lyrics. Nick even came from behind the keyboard for a little while during the performance!
Last night Miley Cyrus stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live for a performance of her new single “We Can’t Stop.” The performance began with Cyrus straddling a guy on a couch before standing up and showing off her crop top, shorts and thigh-high socks. Cyrus tapped the butt of her dancer and flirted with another in the racy performance.
It’s her mouth she can say what she wants. It’s her performance she can do what she wants.
Update: Cyrus also stopped by Good Morning America this morning to perform the tune again (sans straddling). She also performed “Fall Down” with Will.I.Am. Continue reading
When you have a no. 1 single you can kind of do whatever you want. Robin Thicke and Pharrell performed “Blurred Lines” at the Myspace relaunch party earlier this week and the performance aired on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night. Not only did the boys recreate the video with Jimmy Kimmel and Guillermo, but they brought out Miley Cyrus and another one of Pharrell’s artists, “Lolita” singer Leah Labelle, to party on stage during the performance.
Thicke revealed the tracklistng and relase date for Blurred Lines today. In addition to an appearance from Pharrell and T.I., the album will feature Kendrick Lamar (becasue, duh) when it’s released on July 30.
Check out the performance, recreated video and album tracklisting below! Continue reading
Ciara stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live recently to perform her single “Body Party.” Despite the video focusing heavily on Cici’s dance moves, the performance featured the singer standing still at the mic stand. While I was hoping for a more dance-focused performance, I must admit she sounded good!
