Kanye West’s new single is sure to draw comparisons to Nicki Minaj’s “Looking Ass” if the final version sounds anything like the leaked low-quality snippet. The two-minute preview finds West rapping and ending every line in the hook with “all day n—a.”
If this snippet is any indication, fans that were expecting Yeezus 2.0 will likely be disappointed, but fans that just want to hear Ye spit will be pretty satisfied.
I’m mostly looking forward to the rants from Yeezy about the leaking of his art.
John Mayer will headline the Made in America Festival in L.A. alongside Imagine Dragons in August. The two-day festival will take place simultaneously in Los Angeles and Philadelphia on August 30 and 31. Kanye West, Kings of Leon and The National are among the headliners for the Philadelphia lineup.
Mayer covered Beyonce’s “XO” while on tour earlier this year and apparently he liked the song so much that he decided to record and release a studio version. The new release isn’t much different from the live performance, with Mayer delivering the memorable melody via harmonica and singing the dreamy lyrics over an acoustic guitar backing.
FOR YEARS I yearned for a Glow in the Dark concert film. Instead I got a coffee table book full of naked ladies. I’ve recently given up any hope that I’ll ever get to relive that amazing show again. Fans will be able to relive the Yeezus tour, though…
Kanye West teases a new tour film, directed by Hype Williams, in a new trailer on his website. The video shows West, his disciples and “white Jesus” (please refer to my concert review for a better understanding of this seemingly blasphemous sentence) performing during the Yeezus tour to the tune of “Coldest Winter” and “On Sight.” In between the concert footage is a shot of horses running in the snow…
I know you have questions, but, honestly, I just don’t have the answers.
According to West’s website, the film will go to theatres. No release date has been revealed. Continue reading
Elton John, Kanye West and Jack White will headline Bonnaroo this year. Lionel Richie, Phoenix, Frank Ocean, Disclosure, Zedd, Lauryn Hill, Janelle Monae, Sam Smith and Banks were also among the list of artists announced as performers during the festival’s 30-minute Bonnaroo Line-Up Announcement Megathon webcast. Additional performers will be announced in the future. Outkast didn’t make the lineup.
Bonnaroo will take place in Manchester, TN on June 12-15. Tickets go on sale Saturday, Feb. 22 at noon.
Producer Hudson Mohawke recently debuted a previously unreleased version of Kanye West’s “Bound 2” during a show in the Leeds, UK. “Bound 1” features a few new lyrics, instrumentals and a different outro, but the concept remains the same. If you were a fan of the single, you should like this version too!
Unfortunately, the irresistible “uh huh honey” sample from Brenda Lee’s “Sweet Nothin’s” isn’t included in this version`. Continue reading
Kanye West raps about his wild sex life with the mother of his child during a “Drunk In Love” remix.
“Let me remind you, you’ve got a good future behind you,” the rapper says before speaking about the moment he knew the popular Kardashian could be his wife.
The new verse doesn’t add anything too the already raunchy hit song, but I’m sure West’s fans will enjoy it.
Kanye West recently celebrated the 10th anniversary of his debut album The College Dropout
Listen to the remix below and tell me if you prefer this version over Future’s.
Update: Beyonce has unveiled a teaser of a video for this new version of “Drunk In Love.” Let’s just say she takes Kanye’s cowgirl reference literally. Continue reading
The Robin Thicke’s of the world aren’t the only ones that can write a song and make all the ladies swoon. Hip-Hop can get pretty sappy, too. In fact, rappers often make some pretty compelling love songs, although they usually feature some hilarious lines and a nod-worthy beat.
This Valentine’s Day when you’re cuddled up with your “bae” don’t just put on the typical crooners. Here are a few tracks from Drake, Outkast, Snoop Dogg and more that can be added to your playlist. Continue reading
A decade before Kanye West was topping year-end lists with Yeezus, the rapper was topping them with his debut album The College Dropout. Released on Feb. 10, 2004, the underdog rapper and producer’s debut album still stands out as a testament of West’s unrelenting persona and unapologetic rhymes. From day one West set out to be the best and with singles like “Slow Jamz,” “All Falls Downs” and “Jesus Walks,” he laid the foundation for a successful career as rap’s cocky genius.

Kanye West is going back on the road in February. The rapper has added nine new dates to the Yeezus tour, starting Feb. 13 in University Park, PA and ending Feb. 23 in Uniondale, NY.
Last year I made a list of the 10 albums I was anticipating from 2013, but I just couldn’t narrow my list down to 10 this year. This year will be full of surprises as the music industry is already buzzing with rumors that many heavyweights could return this year with albums, although we’re still awaiting official confirmation from some.
Regardless, here are 15 albums to hope and pray for this year. Share your list with me below!
