The bond between Young Money artists Drake, Nicki Minaj and their boss Lil Wayne seems stronger than ever. Sorry, Tyga.
The trio has teamed up for Nicki Minaj’s latest The Pinkprint release and the main topic is Minaj’s sex life. The rapper has always been clear on the fact that she’s all abut business and doesn’t sleep with men in the industry, but that doesn’t stop fans from wondering what’s going on between her and Drake. One minute she’s calling him her brother and the next she’s giving him a lap dance in her “Anaconda” video.
“I never f*cked Wayne, I never f*cked Drake. On my life man f*ck sake. If I did I would menage with ‘em and let them eat my ass like a cupcake.” she spits in the opening lines of “Only.”
“I never f*cked Nicki cuz she got a man, but when that’s over then I’m first in line.”
TMZ says that’s over so let the Dricki shipping begin.
With the three popular rappers and Chris Brown on the hook, this song should be received well by fans. Sonically, it’s nothing new for the YMCMB crew, but Minaj’s fans are always excited when the rapper goes back to her hip hop roots.
The Pinkprint just got a new release date. It’s scheduled for a Dec. 15 release now. Continue reading
Let’s be honest, most of us forgot about the BET Awards up until the last minute this year. The Awards Show just didn’t seem to be offering anything worth watching based on it’s promo.
It turns out, though, there were actually some genuinely good surprises in this year’s show. And, no, Beyonce and Jay Z’s “special performance” (from their On the Run tour via satellite) was not one of them. From Chris Brown’s first performance since being released from jail, to unexpected medleys from Usher and throwback bands like Silk and Color Me Badd to a surprise appearance from Missy Elliott during Pharrell’s opening number, this show really was full of exciting moments.
Maybe it’s a good thing the network didn’t tweet out the surprises before the show. A part of what made them great is that they were genuinely unexpected.
Nicki Minaj, Jhene Aiko, John Legend, Lil Wayne and more also graced the stage during the show. Continue reading
The title ‘Drake VS. Lil Wayne’ would suggest some sort of competition, but the two Young Money rappers aren’t going against each other at all. They’re working together, again, actually.
The artists will co-headline a 31-date tour starting in August, stopping in Boston, Tampa, Denver, Los Angeles, Houston and more.
Drake and Lil Wayne currently have a single out together. “Believe Me” is the first offering from Wayne’s forthcoming album Tha Carver V.
‘Drake vs. Lil Wayne’ tickets go on sale starting June 20. Continue reading
Pharrell, Usher, Drake and Lil Wayne will perform at the 2014 BET Awards on June 29.
The artists are the first performers to be announced for the annual awards show, which will be hosted by Chris Rock this year. The live show will take place in L.A. at the Nokia Theatre.
Nicki Minaj wasn’t the only one who dropped a new song yesterday. Her boss Lil Wayne dropped the first single from The Carter V, too.
“Believe Me” features Drake rapping about his loyalty to the YMCMB leader (“I’ll be rocking with the team ’til Carter 9”) and Wayne rapping about his women, again. “I have these b*tches having babies every week,” he raps about his numerous baby mamas. The track’s production is simple, centered around a repetitive loop and drum pattern.
Lil Wayne performed the single last night while walking Floyd Mayweather to the ring to fight Marcos Maidana alongside Justin Bieber (or would we call him Bizzle in this scenario?). Continue reading
Chris Brown has released the music video for his latest single “Loyal” following a social media countdown. The video was shot at Universal’s CityWalk and features appearances from collaborators Lil Wayne & Tyga, along with Usher and Trey Songz.
The fun video puts Browns dancing skills on full display.
“Loyal” is the latest single from Brown’s forthcoming album X, which is currently scheduled for a May release. It is unclear if Brown’s current legal troubles will force him to postpone the album once again. Continue reading
Young Money rappers Tyga, Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne deliver effortless bars in “Senile.”
Tyga keeps his rhymes laid back, while Minaj steals the show once again with her cocky lyrics (“I got this sh*t wrapped tighter than a bear hug. When them b*tches rap n****s need an ear plug.”). They don’t get to have all of the fun, though. Their boss comes through with a solid verse to close off the track.
Wayne is preparing to release Tha Carter V in the next few months, while Minaj will reportedly release a new album later this year. Tyga will release a new album, The Gold Album, in 2014, too. He will also team up with Chris Brown for Fan of a Fan 2 this summer.
If “Senile” doesn’t get you excited for these rapper’s new releases, I don’t know what will! Continue reading
After a week-long delay, Justin Bieber has released Journals, a collection of songs including the previously released Music Monday tracks. In addition to the critically acclaimed R&B grooves, Journals also features new collaborations with rappers Big Sean, Lil Wayne and Future. The album cuts aren’t nearly as good as the Music Monday releases, but I’m sure that won’t stop Beliebers from purchasing the album!
Listen to the new album cuts below! Continue reading
Paris Hilton’s debut album, Paris, was underrated, but will her new material be good enough to convince fans to pay attention? If her new single “Good Time” is a hint of what’s to come, the answer is no.
“I came here just to party. Oh, please, don’t you hate on me,” the heiress turned YMCMB artist sings over a synth-heavy EDM dance track. It’s generic and fails to immediately make an impact in the way that Hilton’s breezy debut single “Stars Are Blind” did. And the vulgar appearance from Hilton’s boss, Lil Wayne, only makes the song more irritating.
I’m sure this song will be put into the club rotation, but it won’t get much attention elsewhere.
Update: The video was released a day early! It compliments the dance track well and Hilton’s fashion is fabulous as always! Continue reading
Remember when Paris Hilton teamed up with Scott Storch and released a pretty solid, but slightly underrated pop album? Well, the heiress-turned-singer is now gearing up to release new music under YMCMB. “Good Time” will fittingly feature Hilton’s new boss Lil Wayne.
In a teaser clip for the song’s video, Paris is seen sporting a shirt that says “rich girl” and lounging by the pool as she whisper-sings about being tipsy and having a good time.
It makes sense. Continue reading
