Monica recently sat down with Rap-up TV and revealed her views on album sales and charts. Monica’s latest album New Life has sold just under 70,000 so far, which is definitely pretty low for someone who’s been in the game as long as Monica. The R&B star say it’s more important that she stay true to her core fans and deliver a solid R&B album than it is for her to sell big numbers. Regardless of this setback, she’s moving forward with her next single, “Without You.” The Polo Da Don produced track was created specifically for her husband, though Monica says she’s not sure if he’ll appear in the video yet. Monica’s album New Life is days away from being released (August 10) and today a new song from the album made it’s way online. Last week Monica released several snippets from the album and one of the songs I was most excited to hear was “Take A Chance.” The song, which features rapper Wale, finds Monica singing to her love and telling him that regardless of his past she’s still willing to take a chance and love him. Monica’s seventh studio album New Life is set to be released next week (April 10) and today she posted snippets of five of her favorite songs from the album on her website. The songs (“Daddy’s Good Girl,” “Man Who Has Everything,” “Cry,” “Catch Me,” and “In 3D”) are all ballads about Monica’s favorite subject…Love. She sounds GOOD too. Brandy and Monica were in Atlanta for V103′s “Conversation and Soul Sessions” last night. Monica sang a quick tribute (as Brandy stood close by) for their friend/mentor the late Whitney Houston and then they took the stage to perform “The Boy Is Mine” and “It All Belongs To Me.” Brandy also performed one of her old songs, “Almost Doesn’t Count”! I never knew Monica and Brandy had beef back in the day because I was too young to care, but according to a recent interview a physical altercation took place in 1998. Monica & Brandy have made it no secret that they didn’t used to get along, but the two danced around the fact that Monica may hit Brandy while talking to Angie Martinez recently. The two never fully admit it, but Monica keeps repeating “I said I was sorry” over and over.
