After projecting his new song “New Slaves” on buildings across the world last night, Kanye got his scream on and addressed his usual topics shielded by darkness, with only his silhouette showing during his Saturday Night Live set. If you thought “New Slaves,” which Yeezy performed for the first time during the show, was controversial brace yourself! Yeezy premiered a song titled “Black Skinhead” during the SNL finale. Visually the performance was appealing, thanks to a screen with flashing images of receipts, barking dogs and a sign that read “not for sale,” but musically it was quite noisy. I can’t give my opinion on that song right now. I need Rap Genius and a tylenol. However, I do think “New Slaves” is nice sonically and it is sure to start some interesting conversations, even if it is a bit hypocritical lyrically.

Mr. West’s forthcoming album appears to be titled Yeezus. The album will reportedly be released on June 18.

Is it me or is the God-like nicknames for celebs a bit much? Yet another piece of stan culture flowing into the mainstream, I suppose.

Bring on the controversy and opinion pieces, Yeezy. Continue reading

Kanye West has been ingognito these last few months, reportedly working on a new album overseas, but now he’s ready to return to the States and the spotlight. The rapper will perform on Saturday Night Live’s 38th (Whoa!) season finale on May 18.

No word yet on what Yeezy will perform. Any requests?!

Justin Timberlake performs on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show"

Justin Timberlake performs on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show”

I haven’t seen Justin Timberlake perform music from The 20/20 Experience in a while (read a few weeks), but the singer appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show today to perform “Mirrors” and “Pusher Love Girl.” Both performances were far more energetic and entertaining than I remember, but throughout the performance I kept thinking about all of the Justin Timberlake memes that are going to start popping up as we get closer to May and the fact that one of JT’s dancers looks like a bald Ryan Gosling. Saturday Night Live (NBC)

Miguel took to the Saturday Night Live stage last night for the first time to perform his hit song “Adorn” and latest single “How Many Drinks.” Despite the fact that “How Many Drinks,” a song about the singer asking a lady how drunk she has to be to go home with him, genuinely creeps me out, I can’t deny how good his falsetto sounds. For fans that are tired of hearing “Adorn,” Miguel switched the song up by adding some new touches instrumentally.

Kaleidoscope Dream features both singles and is in stores now. Continue reading

Justin Timberlake and Jimmy Fallon on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon

Justin Timberlake and Jimmy Fallon on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon

I didn’t predict this, but I probably should’ve. Instead of closing out “Timberweek” with another song from The 20/20 Experience, Justin Timberlake hit the stage with Jimmy Fallon for “History of Rap 4.” If you’ve ever seen the first three medleys, then you know they’re hilariously good and this one is no different. The boys mix Eminem, Slick Rick, Trinidad James, Jay z, Missy Elliot and more for the sweetest hip-hop medley.

Justin Timberlake performs "Strawberry Bubblegum" on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon

Justin Timberlake performs “Strawberry Bubblegum” on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon

On day four of Justin Timberlak’s Late Night with Jimmy Fallon takeover, the singer performed “Strawberry Bubblegum” for the first time. People had been complaining that JT wasn’t performing the full songs on Fallon, but last night he performed for about six minutes so that should make a few fans happy.

We only have one more day of JT’s Fallon takeover left. Will he close out with “Suit & Tie?” I’m hoping he performs “Don’t Hold The Wall,” instead, but we shall see!

The 20/20 Experience will be released on March 19. Continue reading

Justin Timberlake on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon

Justin Timberlake on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon

On day two of Justin Timberlake’s Jimmy Fallon takeover the singer performed “Mirrors”…again. Don’t get me wrong, I love that song, but there is an array of 8-minute songs for him to chose from and I would like to hear something new. The good news is we still have three more day.

JT did bring “Sexy Back” to Jimmy Fallon when he performed an interesting rendition with The Ragtime Gals, though.

The 20/20 Experience will be released on March 19, but you can stream the album here and read my review here!

Miguel in “Candle in the Sun” video

Miguel in “Candle in the Sun” video

It looks like it’s going to be a good year for Miguel!

The singer, who in previous years gained a reputation for complaining about being unrecognized, will perform on Saturday Night Live. The Grammy award winning artist will perform on April 13, when Vince Vaugn serves as the host.

Soooo happy for Miguel! He’s super talented, so he definitely deserves attention he’s been getting this year!

Justin Timberlake performs “Pusher Love Girl” on Late Night w/ Jimmy Fallon

Suddenly, my site has turned into a Justin Timberlake fan page.

After streaming his album on iTunes, Justin Timberlake hit up Late Night with Jimmy Fallon to discuss The 20/20 Experience and perform the album opener, “Pusher Love Girl.” This is one of five performances from Timberlake on Fallon this week so if you hate seeing JT’s sly smile and silky hair, go home and turn off all electronic devices. See you, Friday.

The 20/20 Experience will be available on March 19. Until then, listen to the stream here and watch the “Pusher Love Girl” performance below! Continue reading
