Earlier this year rapper Nelly released “Hey Porsche,” the pop-leaning lead single from his forthcoming album M.O. and today fans get to hear the urban followup. Nelly tapped Pharrell (who is EVERYWHERE right now) and Nicki Minaj for the mellow, but boastful, single. It’s kind of cheesy, but it’s still nod-worthy. Although, I can’t help but feel like I would’ve appreciated it more a few years ago. Continue reading
Nicki Minaj spits a few hot bars about Atlanta life on the fast-paced “I’m Out,” Ciara’s latest release from her forthcoming self-titled album. Ciara raps her verse about partying after a breakup, instead of singing it. I hate to bring up Cici’s enemy Rihanna, but this is the kind of track the island pop star could’ve put her stamp on. Anywho, the busy track knocks, but it’s also pretty forgettable. Speaking of forgetting, did Ciara forget she had a hot single named “Body Party” that she could be promoting?
Ciara will be released July 9.

Mario returns to the music scene with the release of “Somebody Else,” a Polow Da Don production about a lover leaving Mario for dead (in the words of Mama Dee). Nicki Minaj takes on the role of the ex who didn’t feel appreciated or respected during her verse. I’m a fan of the 21st Century “Remember the Rain” sample and the nod-worthy beat, but I’m not sure this is a strong enough single to put Mario back on the radio, even with a verse from Ms. Minaj.

I love Carly Rae Jepsen and it honestly bothers me that all of the potential hits on her debut album Kiss didn’t get all of the attention they deserved. Sadly “Tonight I’m Getting Over You,” Jepsen’s latest single, has pretty much flopped, so her team did what every pop star does when they need to gain attention: They put a rapper on the remix. Nicki Minaj comes in towards the end of the dub-step breakup tune to tell her ex-boo how she’s getting over him. It’s pretty catchy, honestly. Continue reading
Nicki Minaj and Jennifer Lopez may not ever get a chance to chat it up at the judging table on American Idol, but the women will both hit the stage to perform at the Billboard Music Awards. Minaj and JLo are the latest to be added to the show’s lineup, along with Ed Sheeran, David Guetta and Chris Brown. Billboard Icon recipient Prince, Taylor Swift, Bruno Mars, Miguel, Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez and Christina Aguilera are also set to hit the stage on May 19 when the show airs live on ABC.
Taylor Swift, fun. and Maroon 5 lead the nomination pack with 11 nominations each.
Nicki Minaj brought Nicki Lewinsky back for the “High School” video. Minaj and the President, Lil Wayne, get intimate in the new clip, that also shows them pulling off an intricate robbery.
“High School” is the latest single from Minaj’s Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded – The Re-Up, which is in stores now. Continue reading
Nicki Minaj compares herself to Jesus in “Freedom” and she continues that theme throughout the newly released video. The singer wears a “crown of thorns” as images of a cross and bird are shown. All in all the visuals are nice. I’m sure it’ll persuade a few fans to go out and by Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded – The Re-up, which is officially in stores today. Continue reading
