Last year CBS brought together artists like Celine Dion, Usher and Jennifer Hudson to pay tribute to the late Whitney Houston. The program was uplifting, but a great way to pay tribute to the singer’s legacy.

On Feb. 9, two days before the one-year anniversary of the singer’s death, CBS will air a new special, this time focusing on how Grammy producers and performers scrambled to put together tributes for the fallen star in less than 24 hours. The special will include interviews from LL Cool J, Taylor Swift, Jennifer Hudson and more.

If you missed Hudson’s moving rendition of “I Will Always Love You” at the 2012 Grammys watch it here.

Last night CBS aired an hour-long tribute to the late Whitney Houston. The “We Will Always Love You” special featured footage of Whitney Houston, speeches from celebrities like Halle Berry and Britney Spears and performances from Usher, Jennifer Hudson, Celine Dion and gospel singers Yolanda Adams and CeCe Winans.

I wasn’t in LOVE with all of the tributes, but I will admit they were sweet and made me remember Whitney for her music and not her personal mishaps.

A few weeks ago I posted a snippet of a new Whitney Houston song and now the song has been released in full. Whitney sings words of encouragement over the Jermaine Dupri & Brian Michael Cox produced tune but, as I’ve said before, it’s nothing too special.

Whitney Houston’s camp is preparing to release I Will Always Love You – The Best of Whitney Houston, with the late singer’s greatest hits and a few new tracks. Today, a snippet of one of the newer songs has appeared online. “Never Give Up” is an uplifting song that sounds just like the title suggests.

I don’t LOVE this snippet, and I sort of feel like they’d release anything right about now just to get a few sales…and that’s sad. Whitney worked hard for her legacy, and while this song isn’t horrible, it certainly isn’t her best.

In the age of technology, it’s hard to keep things under wrap! “We Will Always Love You: A Grammy Salute To Whitney Houston” won’t air on television until Nov. 16, but footage of the performances is already leaking online. The tribute concert was shot in LA over the weekend, and Usher’s “I Believe In You & Me” performance landed on Youtube just days later. From what we can see in the video, Usher performs the song as pictures of Whitney Houston are shown across the stage behind him.

Last night Whitney Houston’s family, friends and fans gathered once again to remember the late singer. “We Will Always Love You: A Grammy Salute To Whitney Houston” was filmed last night at the Nokia Theatre in LA. Whitney’s daughter Bobbi Kristina was joined by her boyfriend Nick Gordon, and aunt Pat Houston. Clive Davis also attended, but Cissy and Gary Houston did not.

Britney Spears, and Halle Berry were among the stars who remembered the star on stage. Britney revealed that her performance of “I Have Nothing” landed her a record deal, and Halle gave an emotional speech about the woman who inspired numerous little girls. Continue reading

Britney Spears will co-host the Grammy’s Whitney Houston special when it airs on CBS on Thursday, Nov. 13. Britney will join Halle Berry, LL Cool J and Taraji P. Henson in introducing various segments and footage of the late singer during the show.

Performers for the live tribute were revealed last month, and include Usher, Jennifer Hudson and Celine Dione.

I’m pretty excited for this. It’s shaping up pretty nicely. What do you think?!

Whitney couldn’t be there physically, but she was there in spirit.

Sparkle was the last major project that the late singer worked on before she passed away in February and with all of the other stars included in this film I suspect it’s going to do pretty well this weekend when it opens in theaters.

Last night Whitney’s daughter Bobbi Kristina and her boyfriend Nick Gordon walked the red carpet for the premiere in LA. The Sparkle cast including Jordin Sparks, Tika Sumpter, CeeLo, and Carmen Ejogo also walked the red carpet in support of the film remake last night.

See what they wore below! Continue reading
