It’s been four years since Yeah Yeah Yeahs released It’s Blitz! and with the growing popularity of Euro-styled dance music the band probably could’ve released a similar-sounding album this year and been just fine. Instead, the band tried their hand at a soulful rock album. All in all Mosquito is an experimental album full of groovy synths, double-tracked vocals and tribal beats. Continue reading
The Yeah Yeah Yeahs brought “Sacrilege” and the Broadway Inspiration Voices gospel choir to Late Show with David Letterman for an electric performance last night. Dressed in a yellow suit Karen O lead the band and choir in a rendition of the lead single that sounded much like the studio version. I’m so pleased. Seriously.
“Sacrilege” is the lead single on Mosquito which will be released on April 15. Continue reading
Yesterday Karen O and crew debuted their fourth studio album Mosquito via a live stream on Noisey’s Youtube account. The new Yeah Yeah Yeahs album is lead by “Sacrilege,” which just happens to be one of my favorite singles so far this year.
Throughout the stream, the band also gives track-by-track commentary. Does Mosquito live up to the band’s previous album Its Blitz!?
Mosquito will be officially released on April 16, but until then listen to the album in full below! Continue reading
The Yeah Yeah Yeah’s “Sacrilege’ is definitely one of my favorite singles so far this year so I was pretty excited to see that the trio released the music video for the gospel-inspired song this morning. The story of a promiscuous married woman and one of her lovers being captured is told in reverse order, creating a bit of confusion and a ton of suspense. Everything in the video is “sacrilegious,” but the fact that many of the men and women involved in the couple’s capture and imminent murders have also been sexually involved with the woman is perfectly golden.
“Sacrilege” is the lead single for Mosquito, which will be released in the U.S. on April 16.
Check out the video for “Sacrilege” below and share your thoughts! Continue reading
35 is the number of the week! This week, both Demi Lovato and the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s new singles debuted on the Pop Songs and Alternative Songs Charts, respectively, at no. 35.
After an early leak, Demi’s been on the promo-trail promoting “Heart Attack” and apparently it’s paid off, as the single debuted on the Pop Songs Chart this week at no. 35. Demi received her first no. 1 last year with “Give Your Heart A Break.” Do you think “Heart Attack” will follow in its predecessor’s footsteps?!
Similarly, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ gospel-influenced single “Sacrilege” debuted at no. 35 on the Alternative Songs Chart this week. Ironically, this week marks the nine year anniversary of the group’s first appearance on the chart with “Maps.”
“Sacrilege” is the lead single from Mosquito (April 16).
Yesterday we got the new single, “Sacrilege,” from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs (& a 24-piece choir) and now the tracklisting for the group’s forthcoming album has been revealed!
Mosquito, the fourth studio album from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs will be released on April 16 in the U.S. and will feature 11 new tracks.
Are you ready for the followup to 2011′s It’s Blitz!? Mosquito is one of 10 albums I’m anxious for this year, so I’m obviously super pumped!
I didn’t expect this, but I probably should’ve.
The Yeah Yeah Yeahs made their official return to the music world with the release of “Sacrilege,” the lead single from their forthcoming album Mosquito. Karen O wailing over psychedelic instrumentals about a lover’s betrayal is perfect enough, but then a baptist-type gospel choir comes in towards the end for nearly a minute and the song reaches another level.
Seriously, these guys don’t disappoint!
Mosquito will be released April 16 in the U.S.
The Yeah Yeah Yeah’s haven’t released an album since 2009′s It’s Blitz but that’s all about to change. The group made my list of 10 albums to anticipate this year, but until now we didn’t have any details on the forthcoming fourth studio album.
Today, the band released the album artwork and revealed that the album, Mosquito, will be released on April 16 (April 15 in the UK).
In an interview with Pitchfork, Karen O said the band hit a slump after the release of It’s Blitz, but now they’re back and returning to their old, simpler sound.
“The album is extremely lo-fi. We had a shitty drum machine, a shitty sampled keyboard, tons of delay on the vocals. There’s a real tone, character, and style to it.”
Check out the trailer for the forthcoming album (which features the album’s title track) and let me know if you’re excited for the new material below! Continue reading
2012 was a pretty good year as far as music is concerned, but 2013 looks like it’s going to be pretty promising as well!
Here are ten 2013 releases that you should look out for:
The Yeah Yeah Yeahs are definitely making a new album in 2013. The band made the announcement on twitter this morning with this tweet: Continue reading
