2012 was a pretty good year as far as music is concerned, but 2013 looks like it’s going to be pretty promising as well!

Here are ten 2013 releases that you should look out for:

Tegan & Sara’s Heartthrob

Tegan & Sara are returning to the music world for the first time since 2009 with Heartthrob, but don’t worry if you’re a diehard fan of the band’s indie roots, because the twins promise their entire album won’t be as pop as the lead single “Closer.” That doesn’t mean the album won’t be heavy on the synths, and vocals though, because it will. Still, Heartthrob will also feature those dark, angsty lyrics their fans have grown so attached to.

Heartthrob will be released on Jan. 29 so we’re all stuck watching live performances of the album’s tracks on Youtube until then.

Beyonce – TBA

We don’t know much about Beyonce’s forthcoming, fifth studio album, but The-Dream has revealed that new songs (yes, PLURAL) from the project will more than likely be released before Bey takes over the Super Bowl halftime show. That means new music is due any day now, and since Bey has been utilizing social media more recently, we can expect a few hints and pics to hype the Hive as new things come up. So far all we know about the album is that the The-Dream and Miguel have contributed.

4 was definitely Beyonce’s most mature album to date and I have reason to believe this album will follow along those lines, while still keeping the ratchets satisfied. Regardless, as long as this era receives the proper promotion – and with all the Superbowl hype and a feature-length documentary on the way I suspect it will – I have a feeling Bey’s fans will be more than happy with her return.

Lady Gaga – ARTPOP

For Gaga, 2012 was a relatively quiet year, but 2013 is shaping up to be the exact opposite! The singer is prepping to release ARTPOP , her fourth studio album, and from the whispers it’s gonna be pretty big! So far we know Gaga’s lead single will more than likely be “Ratchet” (featuring Azelea Banks and possibly Beyonce) or “Tea.” Either way, with those names, it’s sure to get the critiques and fans talking. Gaga says she wrote about 50 songs for ARTPOP so I’m sure her little monsters are expecting nothing but the best! And if that is not enough, Gaga is also releasing a documentary in conjunction with Terry Richardson.

ARTPOP is scheduled to be released before spring. Gaga said she may decide to release the album in two volumes. If so, ARTPOP Vol. 2 would come later this year.

Paramore –Paramore

Party of 3!

A lot has changed since Paramore release Brand New Eyes in 2009. For starters the band lost two members and for the most part went under the radar to create new music. To hold fans over, the band released a few new songs via their website, and if they are any indication of what’s to come, the band will continue with their rebellious underdog theme throughout this new album.

Paramore will be released on April 19, but fans will get a taste of what’s to come when “Now” is released in full (snippet here) on Jan. 19.

Solange – TBA

In 2012 Solange released True, an EP to hold fans over until the release of her full length album this year. Solange has definitely come into her own sonically and lyrically, so it’ll be interesting to here how her album is received when it’s released later this year.

Solange has been working so closely with Dev that I can’t help but wonder if he’ll be heavily involved in the new album.

Eminem – TBA

Aside from executive producing Skylar Grey’s album, Eminem has been hard at work on his eighth studio album. So far all we know is that No I.D, Dr. Dre and 50 Cent will have a hand in the project, but fans really don’t need much information to get excited about a new album from this guy, now do they?

Britney Spears – TBA

New Britney in 2013! The “Scream & Shout” singer has been teasing fans about her eighth studio album on twitter but so far all we know is that Hit-Boy and Will.I.Am will be involved in the project. Regardless, when Ms. Spears releases new music we stop and take notice. That’s just the way it goes.

Jhene Aiko – Souled Out

We’ve been waiting for Jhene’s Def Jam debut since Sailing Souls and quite frankly I’m tired of waiting. 2012 saw the release of songs like “3:16,”2 Seconds,” and “Mirrors,” a lot of touring and time off to finish up the album. Based on the previously released songs Jhene fans have every reason to believe Souled Out is going to be a solid release.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs – TBA

It’s been nearly four years since the Yeah Yeah Yeahs released It’s Blitz!, but a twitter post from the group confirmed that a new album will be released this year. The thought of getting anything remotely similar to “Heads Will Roll,” “Hysteric,” or “Runaway” is enough to get me excited for the new project and I know I’m not alone.

The Weeknd – TBA

2012 was a good year for The Weeknd as the newcomer gained new fans and airplay by remastering and re-releasing his three mixtapes as Trilogy. Like most people, I’ve grown to enjoy The Weeknd for his moody music and I can’t wait to hear what he’s been working on. The singer recently tweeted plans to release a new album this year.
