In an interview with Australia’s News.com.au, Redfoo announced that he and his nephew Sky Blu will be taking a break from making music together. He says the reason for the split is because the duo has been going in “different directions”
Redfoo has been coaching a Las Vegas tennis player named, Ayaka Okuno who he speaks fondly of:
I kind of use the Phil Jackson approach which I teach her some vague things – I teach her how to think for herself on the court. She’s really good at self-analyzing.
In addition, Sky Blue has been moving towards production, most recently producing Carly Rae Jepson’s new single “This Kiss” from her debut album, Kiss.
Redfoo explains:
I think that we naturally just started hanging with two different sets of people, two different crowds, but we’re always family. He’ll always be my nephew, I’ll always be his uncle.
But if fans are tearing up at the news, they shouldn’t worry! Redfoo is going solo!
All the music that I’m going to make is always going to be LMFAO-ish… I love all the topics that we talk about. I was really passionate about bringing party music to the world, so I will always be making some kind of party music
